I am currently a member and overall the gym is not managed. I lost my card almost four weeks ago and I have called the gym at least 15+ times to replace it and it has gone straight to voicemail each time; the voicemail has been full for over a month now, so you cannot leave a message. Furthermore I have sent emails, called HQ and no correspondence. I have called other franchises to see if they could service my account and they could not and recommended calling my bank to stop all future transactions with snap fitness.
If this review had a zero I would rate that but one is the lowest I can go. First of all, this is nothing against Snap Fitness as the company. I think the company is very good that let you work out any place where there is Snap fitness. But - but, the one we have in Rochester is just horrible as far as I can tell. The concept of customer service is completely lacking.
So bottom-line, you don't want to join a place where you get penalized for your honest mistake. Do yourself a favor and join some other gym(there are plenty of gym out here in Rochester where people value their customers) or Snap Fitness somewhere else. Another piece of advice, if you want to discontinue your membership then make sure you do it before the first day of the month for instance if you want to cancel your membership for January then you need to do it on November or end of November if you do it on 2nd of December then you'll end up paying for two more billing cycles.
I have been trying to get a hold of the staff here for almost three months now. No one is there during staffing hours, they don't respond to emails, never answer their phone and can't leave a message because their mailbox is full. Very frustrating. I don't recommend.
On the bright side, for the price, the gym is reasonable. I have been going to Snap Fitness for 3 years now and compared to other Franchise locations it is on the more basic end, but still works. It is a great gym if it is being serviced; last spring they hired someone and it was really turning around for awhile.
To make the story short, I had to pay a fine twice for a mistake that I was unaware of. Yes, I accidentally didn't follow their shoes policy and I was charged $10. But once I knew the policy and how they watch you on surveillance camera whether you clean machine after your exercise or whether you put your exercise tools away or what not, I cancelled my membership and never went there. But next month they charged me another $10 (this time, I still didn't know about the policy and I had already paid $10).
Not there during staffed hours, won't return calls, charge extra fee's on top of monthly fee's... the list goes on.
I enjoyed the privacy.
