Being in Martial Arts and Wrestling for most of my life, I can say with full confidence that Mario is one of the best instructors I have ever had the fortune to be trained and tested by. Not only is the instructor and facility great, but there is many high quality training partners as well!
Mario has created something incredibly special in Rochester. The Mario Roberto Jiu-jitsu Academy is a world class facility. The atmosphere at the academy is always friendly, helpful, and surprisingly informal. Mario himself is a medical doctor, MMA pioneer, and decorated black belt, all while being an incredible teacher and mentor.
Great gym!! Very laid back and friendly atmosphere. Best place to get fit and learn functional self defense that would work in the actual real world. I would recommend to everyone. The youth program is fun for the kids not only are they having fun while training but also getting fit with exercise.
I'm over 30 years old now and am learning things that I wish I would've when I was 18. Not only is Mario the best BJJ practitioner in Minnesota, but he has trained and taught some of the best people in Rochester to fill his gym. The gym is top notch, and very welcoming no matter what you're looking for - self defense, conditioning, losing a few pounds, kids classes, competing, they have it all. You can't go wrong with a free full week, so check it out.
So thankful my family and I found this gym in Rochester last year. The knowledge my children and I have gained along with the fitness and friendships that has been gained I find myself looking forward to everyday of training.
