The quality of service, and the customer service here is exceptionally poor. They are unable to make and keep reservations, and they are unable to follow up when there are problems. Go somewhere else.
I would highly recommend booking at Marriott Courtyard in Rochester. They ended up paying for my taxi ride back and being extremely helpful.
My flight here was pretty late but I still managed to get out to the National Car counter before 10pm. I sat there and waited for several minutes even though their lights were off, then I walked out in the parking lot to see if they had an emerald club or any booths outside. There is not an emerald club and there are no booths outside but I did see a sign that says to note mileage and bring keys inside. So I walk back in and still no one at the counter. Another guy walked up to Hertz and the lady behind the counter said she stayed later than everyone just to catch the last few clients. After standing their a few minutes I decided to check my agreement. I was in the right location and it just turned 10PM which is when they are SUPPOSED to close. I tried calling customer service but was put on hold for 10+ mins. Ended up having to pay for a taxi $32+tip and loss 20 mins. Then again the same thing the next morning. I get in 15 mins after they open and stood around for another 5mins for someone to show up. Guy shows up and I explain how frustrated I am. He says someone should have been there and they had flight info in their system. I told him my story and he apologized and comped me for gas. So I ended up spending another $80 on a taxi and losing an hour for having to go back to the airport all to be comped for a tank of gas which at most was $30. They even knew what flight I was on so how could someone not be there?! They could have at least sent me an email and hid the keys somewhere. So please do yourself a favor and DO NOT use National at this airport because you will more than likely regret it.
Below is my reasoning:
I travel for work and have extensive experience with rental cars. This time I was traveling for a loved one to Mayo Clinic. It was in itself a very stressful trip because of the reasons and also because our plane was delayed and we were really tired... but what a wonderful experience I had at National! They treated us with such kindness and were so willing to help us find the right car, at the right price, for our trip! Actually we got a fantastic car for an amazing prize. This is my second experience with National (the other one in Texas for MD Anderson Hospital) and both were experiences that I would love to repeat over and over again. If you are traveling to Rochester, National would be your best bet!
AVOID! I would suggest using Hertz at this location.
