I have never posted a google review or any review because usually bad service is something I can just shrug off, get over and not be that person who rants in a review on the internet. But my awful experience here needs to be shared. I went in to get crochet braids installed and if anyone has watched tutorials or seen the installation of crochet you would be appalled at the job this woman did. This is going to be long but it all needs to be told before anyone else goes in.
4)I kept telling her I did not want extra hair as it's a pretty heavy style but she snuck in some extra hair and I looked like I have 5 fluffy mops on my head. You should never have to go home after being at the salon and correct the "professionals" work.
1)As I was telling her that she was braiding WAYYY too tight her and the other stylist there told me I was just "tender headed" and needed to get over it. Her parts were not clean so she was literally pulling hair from any which direction. Parts for cornrows should be clean and you do not borrow hair from other parts of the head...in this case it was a hot mess and that should have been my first sign to get out. Now as I'm writing this my scalp currently has bumps on it from all the pulling. When she finished I literally could not look down. Attempting to put my chin towards my chest was impossible. I have been getting protective styles while on my natural hair journey and have never been in a position to where I couldn't even bend my head down. THIS is how traction alopecia happens ladies!
2)I've been natural for about 5 years now (and know how to take care of my hair) but I was told my hair was nappy and that getting it straight would be better for braids. I was also told that I must not take care of my hair because it's so thick...no no it's thick because I DO take care of it and handle my tresses with care.
You may be asking yourself "why the hell did you go through with it then"?! I went through with it because as any woman of color living in this area knows, it's go to the cities if you want your hair done. I had a last minute event to go to and decided I would check out the local shop to support their business and see how it compared to my lady in the cities since I had no time to drive and see her. Never again will I return to this shop. Ladies if you wanna keep your edges and not have someone literally rip through your damn hair either do it yourself or make the drive to the cities I will be learning how to do it myself since Rochester has zero good places to get braided styles. I'm also 99% sure these reviews are from the owner and braiders in this shop or the reviewers just have some low standards and don't care to have edges. It baffles me how a shop full of black women don't know how to take care of the texture that God had grow out of our scalp. Sorry for the ridiculous rant but DO NOT get your hair braided in this shop if you want your hair to stay healthy and on your scalp.
3)For the tangles that occurred she did a light mist and then proceeded to use a RAT TAIL COMB to get through my 4c ends. I blow dried my hair prior to going AND detangled but her rough handling only caused my hair to tangle more

I have absolutely nothing but positive reviews to share about this place. First, the ladies there are SO SO nice! I felt like I was with family the entire time. Plus, they WORK FAST!! I have a lot of natural hair, but they did an amazing job. What I really liked was how they cared for my braids afterward...moistured each braid and they informed me of what they were using....GO HERE IF YOU WANT GREAT SERVICE, and GREAT PRICES!!!! I will definitely be going back!!
