This place has saved my dog's life twice in her 8 years - most recently in August when I recognized she was going into anaphylactic shock after having been stung multiple times by ground bees. I called AEVS en-route and they were ready to treat her on arrival. She was seriously ill with liver damage already occurring and had to stay overnight. Another time, several years ago, this dog ate a half pound of dark chocolate at Christmas time. Chocolate is poison to dogs and she'd eaten a lethal dose. Again, she was there overnight and came through. I am extremely pleased and grateful that we have AEVS in Rochester.
I brought my English bulldog in for a cherry eye that was looking bad. They said sorry we can't do anything for that and it is cosmetic to surgically repair. I asked about steroids after reading on normal vets site and the employee stated she had never heard of that as a treatment option and sent us on our way. 2 days later and at the regular vet, puppy has to spend the day there getting doses of steroid ointment to attempt to reduce swelling and inflammation. Likely will have the ointment for a few days.
Can't say enough good things about Dr. Hodge, Dr. Shaw, and all the staff at AEVS in Rochester. Our German Shepherd was swarmed by hornets, and they saved her life. They were great about communicating with us and letting us know what was going on, what the possible outcomes would be, costs associated with treatment, etc.
We recently had to put our pup down there. They were very kind and considerate. I would highly recommend them.
Very professional efficient staff. They give up their time at all hours to provide this Emergency care. They took care of our Cat's broken jaw and other injury's. They responded at 4am! Cost vs care is Fair. 10 years ago I took another cat into emergency care for issues it was Christmas eve but I got to take our cat home on Christmas Day. Thank you for your services today. Our cat is home and comfortable.
I'm disappointed in recent visit. I brought my Golden here years ago and had a good experience but this weekend was a let down.
I get that a cherry eye is not life threatening but apparently is more than just cosmetic at times.
