My daughter had been having problems with her foot for two years. We had seen numerous foot doctors in the Twin Cities and finally went to Mayo and saw a pediatric orthopedic surgeon. After a correct diagnosis, he recommended we go to Lairs and have proper orthotics made. After two years and four pair of orthotics later, Jeff at Lairs finally designed a pair of orthotics that helped relieve her foot pain. Jeff was amazing, took time to understand my daughter's needs and could not have been nicer. The entire staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. What a relief!
I agree, Jeff is amazing...really knows his stuff. Everyone on the staff is very kind and helpful!!!
Kari is a shoe master. She can almost determine size and width just by looking at a persons feet. Her mastery of the inventory means she usually knows if we have a specific shoe, color, or size in back.
Lair's is a nice shoe store beneath mayo clinic. They have new balance, Dunham, Aravon, Rockport, Finn Comfort, Birkenstocks, and Halfingers. They are planning on carrying Mephistos and Alegrias soon.
For Lair's to be successful, i believe they need to get rid of Jeff and transfer a orthopedist from Prosthetics Labs to fill his position. They also need to promote online reviews and have some sort of sidewalk advertisement like the dairy queen bike. Especially during Thursday's on first. Anyway, this has been a review by Chris. Warren is a pedorothist at Lair's. He's a magnificent wordsmith and a foot expert. Warren carries such enthusiasm in his voice and seems to say all the right words at the perfect time. Most people that meet with him are in constant pain and are under a lot of stress because of it. Warren' charm, patience, and knowledge puts reassures all of his patients. They gain confidence in his ability to alleviate their pain. His patients travel thousands of miles for his amazing care.
Larry is the cobbler at Lair's. He's a true artist. He can add rocker bottoms, toe tents, buttresses, silicone pressure spots, aftermarket Velcro straps, increased sole width, steel shanks and more. He also resoles, reheels, repairs stitching, and readheres sections of shoes. And he usually adds a polish to dress shoe heels and soles. Larry has a challenging job that demands perfection. Yet his wonderful outlook on life is a real inspiration. Larry's work is very high quality. His motto is. "Return business is the best business." And that really shows with how many people request him by name.
The manager, Jim is very kind and patient. He's also a fighter with a strong will. He's been fighting to ensure Lair's gets the support needed from Hanger. It's obvious that he cares for his co-workers like family. Anyone thats met Jim can tell that he has a strong will and a great passion for helping others while ensuring a successful future for Lair's.
Staci handles insurance, appointments, elaborate corporate stuff, and explains complicated information to a wide spectrum of people. Although her job is stressful, Staci's positive attitude and wonderful sense of humour makes the store a great place to be.
Kelly is the Jack of all trades. She's a fantastic fitter with a eye for detail. Kelly also does a lot of paperwork, insurance information, and explanation of important details to a wide array of visitors. When Staci went on vacation, Kelly took on more than double the work load. She didn't take lunch breaks during that time. But she always kept a smile on and a optimistic attitude.
Jeff is another pedorothist with Lair's. Jeff is like a foot encyclopedia. He is the only pedorothist that builds plastizoe ridgid orthotics. He also uses a intricate wax moulding system for certain feet. Jeff does a wonderful job explaining how adding or removing support in certain areas will effect your feet. He's very descriptive and knowledgeable. However, under pressure, Jeff's cracks start to show. Occasionally he can become inpatient with customers and coworkers. When he's upset, he interrupts customers and speaks toward themin a demeaning tone. He also talks down to new and old employees. During one of Jeff's fits, he slapped his knife against his glass desktop and broke it. He implied Warren doesn't know what he's doing because, "anyone that casts weight bearing doesn't know what they're doing." And trash talks Larry all the time. He also constantly makes inappropriate remarks to and about Kari constantly. Jeff may be smart. But his unstable mental state is a big pile of poo in a beautiful garden that is Lair's.
