My wife and I brought our son to Primrose and couldn't be happier. They went out of their way to get him in quickly, and were so sweet. We love every aspect of the care they give our young son. The Administration to the Teachers are top notch and the facility is amazing.
The owners were very, very nice and my child's experience was mostly positive. The downside for my child was the high staff turnover. Additionally, I didn't feel the curriculum was necessarily better than other places in town, I did feel however, that they were organized in curriculum delivery. They do a great job marketing and packaging their service, but the bottom line for me was that it still felt like nice daycare, not necessarily a private school.
The welcoming environment, value-centered approach, and readiness curriculum of Primrose make it, hands down, the best private preschool in town! Relocating here from the Twin Cities, we had a well-informed and broad point of reference when we were looking for our son's preschool facility here. And we were blown away by Primrose's genuinely caring staff, its balanced-learning approach (mixing the best of Montessori-like, child-centered learning with a successful, structured skills-building curriculum), and its tidy, well-appointed care and class rooms. And it's been even better than we expected it to be! Our child has become an engaged student and contibuting component of the classroom, the staff has worked with us graciously and professionally when dealing with growing spurts and behavioral training, and we truly sense that every staff member with whom we interact knows and is interested in the welfare of our child. If you are looking, this is NO passive day-care experience!!! Primrose has tons of events for its Primrose families, from a Fall Feast just before Thanksgiving, to an End-of School BBQ in the spring, and the school goes out of its way to inform and invite parents to class-time activities, like the multi-cultural celebration parade and the Halloween costume parade the children have. But it's not just about having fun, either. Primrose routinely schedules activities that help my child be more aware of his community and more compassionate toward family, friends and strangers. From collecting canned goods for the local food shelf, to holding a pet food and pet supply drive for the local humane center, to hosting a grounds-wide Carnival fundraiser (complete with games, rides, inflatables and a dunk-tunk!) to raise funds to assist children with a military parent on deployment. We are thrilled that Primrose isn't just teaching our son learning skills and fundamental academics, it isn't just feeding him terrific meals and healthy snacks, it isn't just providing him with enhancements (computer learning, music classes, tennis lessons, Spanish, etc.) superior to anything else being offerered in the community. Primrose School of Rochester is a true partner in our efforts to teach our son to be a young man of character.
