Hunter is especially knowledgeable about the fish they sell both the fresh water and salt water selections. Someone reviewed him as a "skinny half wit" my experience with Hunter has been exemplary. He will go out of his way to accommodate my requests for unusual saltwater items or things they don't typically carry.

Many of the staff are very knowledgeable about their products. I prefer to support locally owned business instead of big box stores.

The hermit crab conditions are exceptionally poor.

Are able to order equipment that you may need if they don't have it on hand.

Greg the owner is also great to deal with he has a lot of knowledge. Tim is also very good to deal with. In a day and age where customer service has slipped at many places customer service is not lacking here.

From the times I've been here, there only seems to be one hermit crab. I'm not sure if it's because the other ones are in their shells, but there should at least be 3 hermit crabs in a tank.

I would suggest improving the hermit crab tank to increase the longevity of their life and health. It's a poor effort on Fish and Pets behalf for not supplying them with their basic needs.

Very knowledgeable staff have a wide verity fish selection and also has salt water unlike Petsmart and it’s locally owned not a large chain always have information when I need it on what’s going on in my fish tank

Great store!

All of the shells in their tank are painted. Painted shells are bad for hermit crabs because the paint is toxic to them. It may be non-toxic for children, but not for the crabs themselves.

The one thing I am super happy about and why I am giving 5 stars is that you don't sell puppies anymore and that is a five star rating. if you sold puppies still you'd be getting a one star rating. all puppies sold in pet stores come from puppy mills. NO MATTER WHAT THE OWNER SAYS. they come from local breeder? lies. they come from a broker..= puppy mill. they come from licensed breeder= puppy mill. even if they say their puppies are not from puppy mills, it's either they are uneducated or they are lying. So, is this the reason why you stopped selling puppies???? To sell puppies in pet stores, or to buy puppies from pet stores is only condoning and supporting neglect and abuse the parents of the puppies go through, day in and day out. an entire life with no socialization, minimal food/water, no vet car, small crammed cages only to breed every 6 months while sleeping in their own feces and urine. BY STOPPING BUYING PUPPIES FROM PETS STORES we can put an end to puppy mills!! don't try and rescue the puppy, saying well they need a home too... they will get a home, a different way, by putting this shameless backyard industry of greed and animal abuse. sure the puppy for sale is cute in the pet store but have you seen the parents?!?!!? don't buy online either. breeders will say anything to get you to think they are reputable. ADOPT from RESCUES. ADOPT DON'T SHOP. 2 million + dogs get euthanized every year in shelters. they deserve a second chance :( THANK YOU FISH AND PETS FOR NOT SELLING PUPPIES ANYMORE. please tell me why you don't anymore. is that which i said the reason why?? a lot of people are in the dark of what really goes on with breeding puppies. gotta educate others

Well done!

Their tanks are also very exposed, and don't have a lot of hiding spots for the crabs.

Also took in a few fish that outgrew my tank to find better homes!

The tank doesn't appear to be humid enough for them. They need about 70%-80% humidity. To retain humidity they need frog moss, clean sponges, and their tanks need to be sprayed with water frequently. The temperature also needs to be at 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit.

The sponges in the water dishes are dirty, and aren't changed daily like how they should be.

The water dishes are also too shallow, and sometimes aren't even filled with water when it is empty.

Hermit crabs require at least 3-6 inches of substrate, usually play sand or coconut fiber, and at Fish and Pets they only have a thin layer of gravel for them. Gravel isn't good for a hermit crab tanks because it tends to tear off limbs, and since they only have a thin layer it prevents them from burrowing, which is how they prepare for molting, and reduce stress.

Been here a few times now. The staff are always very helpful and kind. Answer any questions I have.
