Dr. Elhassan changed my life completely! I am so grateful and blessed to have had him as my surgeon. He was there to field any questions any time in the day or evening. I will never let anyone touch my shoulder. Besides being a skilled physician, he is a kind and caring person with the very best bedside manner. After literally putting my shoulder back together, I no longer require any pain medication (not even over the counter stuff) that I required tons of preoperatively to manage my debilitating nerve pain. It has been almost 5 years since my surgery and I can live and manage my active lifestyle because of his amazing skills. I have had two procedures with Dr. El Hassan. The first was two years ago when I had a complex fracture in my right wrist. The second was this week when I had hardware removed( I put it off)

Very gifted and creative doctor! I have a brachial plexus injury from a motor vehicle accident from when i was 3 years old and have had nerve transfers in the past. When I came to the Mayo clinic to seek help because my triceps in the left arm had atrophied. Out of all the doctors that I saw at the Mayo Clinic Dr. Elhassan was the only one who could help. Dr. Elhassan performed and amazing surgery! He took my right collateral trapezius and transferred it to my left triceps. The surgery lasted around nine hours and I was immobilized in a brace for 12 weeks. About 12 week after surgery, when I had my surgical brace removed, I could extend my left arm! I have been his patient for a little more than a year now and I have had another surgery with Dr. Elhassan because my arm was stuck in supination and could not achieve pronation. The surgery put my forearm in a neutral position so that I would have more use of my forearm. The surgery also involved my wrist being stabilized to keep it from flopping. Overall Dr. Elhassan is a wonderful doctor and person, not only is he smart but he is also stylish:)
